Brew Some Magic: Elevate Your Coffee Game with These Holistic Additions

Updated: Jul 17, 2023

Having a magical day could start with that first cuppa coffee love.

For many of us, coffee is an essential part of our morning routine. But did you know that you can take your coffee to the next level by adding some simple ingredients that make it more beneficial to your health and wellness? I've been doing it for years, I call it my 'magic coffee' and it's been such a simple, but powerful addition to my healing journey.

Not only is it a great way to practice habit stacking, but it's a moment first thing in the morning, to get intentional with your health.

So, here are some suggestions for optimizing your morning brew:

Choose Mold-Free Coffee: Many conventional coffees contain harmful mold toxins that can cause a range of health issues. Look for mold-free coffee brands or opt for organic, shade-grown, and wet-processed coffees, which have lower mold levels.

Add MCT Oil: MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil is a type of fat that's easily digested and converted into energy. Adding MCT oil to your coffee can provide a quick and sustained energy boost, enhance mental clarity, and support weight loss.

I regularly use the MCT Oils available from Emagenes Online: click here

Try Adaptogens: Adaptogens are natural substances that help the body adapt to stress and balance its systems. Adding adaptogens like ashwagandha, maca, or Rhodiola to your coffee can boost your immunity, enhance your mood, and support your body's natural healing processes.

Experiment with Mushroom Powders: Mushroom powders like chaga, reishi, cordyceps, and lion's mane have been used for centuries for their immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, and brain-enhancing properties. Adding a scoop of mushroom powder to your coffee can help support your overall health and well-being.

I personally use the following options -

Add Collagen Powder: Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies and is essential for healthy skin, hair, nails, and joints. Adding a scoop of collagen powder to your coffee can promote skin elasticity, reduce joint pain, and support gut health.

Sprinkle Some Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a delicious and fragrant spice that has been shown to improve blood sugar control, reduce inflammation, and enhance brain function. Sprinkle some cinnamon on your coffee to add flavor and health benefits.

Add Raw Cocoa: Raw cocoa is a superfood packed with antioxidants, iron, magnesium, and other nutrients. Adding a spoonful of raw cocoa powder to your coffee can provide a rich, chocolatey flavor and support cardiovascular health, brain function, and mood.

Try Mucuna: Mucuna is a powerful adaptogen that supports the production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, motivation, and pleasure. Adding mucuna powder to your coffee can enhance your mood, reduce stress, and promote mental clarity.

As a little woo-woo bonus:

I add some Moon Water to my coffee some mornings too. Moon water is water that is charged by the energy of the moon, often during a full moon. Many people believe that drinking moon water can enhance their spiritual and emotional well-being, as well as promote balance and harmony in their lives.

Remember, the quality of your coffee matters. Opt for organic and fair-trade coffee beans whenever possible to support sustainable and ethical farming practices. And, don't forget to listen to your body and adjust your coffee routine as needed to support your unique wellness journey, eg. never having a cup of coffee on an empty stomach or past 12:00.

Incorporating these simple ingredients into your morning cup of coffee can help you start your day with a boost of energy, focus, and well-being. Cheers to a healthier and more vibrant you!
